The Eumundi School of Arts Hall is a heritage building located on the main street of Eumundi. This is part of an overall renovation project for the 100-year-old heritage listed hall to update the outdated and worn toilet facilities and bar. We were asked to design a modern facility with historical styling along with functionality and longevity.
Our challenges were that it was a very small space to be reconfigured; the heritage character had to be retained and structural issues had to be addressed. It is now much more functional and has a spacious feel; selection of materials (such as the pressed tin splash back) and fixtures has retained a heritage feel.
Pressed tin splashbacks, black granite vanities, tapware, toilets, wall linings, and trims were chosen to bring a modern interpretation of styling from a past era. Existing floorboards were repaired and given new life to bring some warmth to the design. The bar top is slabbed from a local fallen tree.
