Themsen Residence

This is a family house designed for a steep, N-E facing property in the Bundaberg region.  The 4 bedroom home is designed to capture views to the ocean and over rural scenery as well as capturing prevailing breezes and winter sun.

The house is designed as a series of cascading blocks that respond to the property and surrounds rather than the street frontage.  An oversized central entry stair separates kitchen/dining and living areas gives extra volume to those spaces.

Careful design of roof overhangs, orientation, cross-ventilation, solar hot water and electricity generation all contribute to creating a comfortable home that interacts with its surrounds and is environmentally responsible
